To the family of company 80, Roy Boy truely loved everyone of you, I heard stories almost everyday of all of you. Roy was a dedicated, loving, strong willed, and honorable young man. There are so many unanswered questions, but there is only one truth and that is his true desire, dedication and love to save others. I know you all are hurting as much as any of us are, and I truly see the love and dedication in all of you through him. Thank you for doing all you have for him, and crystal, and the family. There aren't even words that can exspress the dedication and apprecation you continue to show. I am thankful I have gotten to know all of you, and more thankful that he was part of something that completed his life, and gave him an additional family. Thank you for continuing to take care of all of us in the community and may god bless all of you and keep you safe !

I would first like to say that Roy was a great and wonderful person. I am a senior at Spotswood this year and while we were not personally close, it felt like a bullet through my heart to hear such life shattering news. I can not even imagine what his family is going through. My thoughts, prays, and love is forever and always with you all.

Just wanted to express my condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Roy Smith III. I remember Roy as a young boy hanging around Co70 with his dad.He was a very nice young boy then and from what I've read and heard about him over the last few days,he grew up into a very nice young man. From what I understand he had a love and zest for the fire service that was strong, and it's so sad he was taken way to early at only 17.May God be with his family and friends as it's quite evident in only 17 short years Roy touched alot of people.

Roy touched the hearts of many people, not the least of which were all of the counselors that knew him from Mid-Atlantic Burn Camp. He was a charming boy who had grown into a solid young man. I thoroughly enjoyed having him as a camper. I recall very fondly his beaming smile as he made a phone call from Pennsylvania to tell her that he had learned to ski.
All of our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Our prayers and sympathy are with the Roy Family and Co. 80. May God be with you all.
On behalf of Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to pass along our thought and prayers as you lay one of our brothers to rest today. You are in our thoughts.
Also, on behalf of SkillsUSA Maine, we would like to also express our remorse to you as you lose a member of a great organization. When losing a member of SkillsUSA in any state, it hits close to home because we know the type of skills that person had.
On a personal note, I am very sorry for your loss. It hit me hard to read this article, because I knew Roy through SkillsUSA. He was one of the many faces I met when visiting other states; and now knowing he has passed made it all the more real that you meet people from all over and you make a connection with them.
