Celebrating the Women of McGaheysville Volunteer Fire Company (MVFC).

We start with the bio of Velva Hensley, MVFC’s 1st female Firefighter/EMT. Velva became acquainted with MVFC when she started dating and later married her husband Earl Hensley Jr in 1978. Earl is the reason that Velva became involved in MVFC, she seen the difference that could be made in someone’s life and how MVFC helped the community.

In 1985, Velva joined MVFC and started taking classes for firefighter 1 and EMT to broaden her knowledge so that she could give the best to the people in the community. Velva is now a Life Member with MVFC and still enjoys helping with fundraisers. Velva stated “Being a firefighter with MVFC has been the best experience of my life”
