11 years ago today Company 80 suffered the greatest loss imaginable for any public safety agency. Roy Dale Smith III lost his life while responding to an early morning structure fire. Roy was 17 years old and was dedicated to becoming a career firefighter. Roy's father is a volunteer firefighter with Shenandoah Vol. Fire Co. Co70 and instilled in Roy the love of service to his community. Roy was also a burn survivor after being burned in an accident when he was a child and had attended the Mid Atlantic Burn Camp where he cultivated his love for the fire service. The Company 80 family will always remember Roy as one of our own. Rest in Peace brother, and continue to watch over us.
