The members of MVFC mourn the passing of Robert “Bob” Lam. Bob was a 55 year charter member of the department and held the position of President for 21 years of those years. Bob was our faithful Bingo caller for numerous years. He will be sadly missed.

Bingo Update

MVFC wanted to take a minute to give an update regarding our Bingo game. Our main priority is keeping our players and volunteers safe. For the foreseeable future our bingo will be cancelled because of Covid-19. As with any Emergency, the priority of the McGaheysville Volunteer Fire Co. is the safety of its members and the community. Virginia's 4 P.M. Burn Law

Virginia's 4:00 p.m. Burning Law is in effect as of February 15.
Briefly, the 4:00 p.m. Burning Law states: from February 15 through April 30 of each year, no burning before 4:00 p.m. is permitted, if the fire is in, or within 300 feet of, woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable material.

Change your Smoke Detector Batteries!

As you set your clocks forward 1 hour tonight please change your smoke detector batteries also. Smoke detectors save lives.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) smoke alarms are present in 96 percent of American homes, but 20 percent do not work due to worn or missing batteries. Structure Fire

Firefighters responded to a reported house fire on East Point Road at ~10pm on January 31st. Upon arrival of apparatus heavy smoke conditions were present from the attic area. Crews made an interior attack and contained the fire to the attic area and then conducted extensive overhaul operations. No civilian or firefighter injuries.... (Full Story & Photos)

Remembering Roy

11 years ago today Company 80 suffered the greatest loss imaginable for any public safety agency. Roy Dale Smith III lost his life while responding to an early morning structure fire. Roy was 17 years old and was dedicated to becoming a career firefighter. Roy's father is a volunteer firefighter with Shenandoah Vol. Fire Co.
