October 4th-10th is Fire Prevention week. This years theme is "Hear the Beep where your Sleep" Did you know that roughly half of home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most people are asleep? Smoke alarms save lives. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. In fact, having a working smoke alarm cuts the chances of dying in a reported fire in half! Cant afford smoke detectors for your home? Rockingham County Fire and Rescue has a program to provide smoke detectors at no cost. Get a Free Smoke Detector If you are in need of a detector, just fill out the Application for Free Smoke Detector. Once we receive your application http://www.rockinghamcountyva.gov/DocumentCenter/View/74 "Reproduced from NFPA's Fire Prevention Week website, www.firepreventionweek.org. © 2015 NFPA." |
