Multiple Runs For The First Snow of The Season

By Firefighter/EMT Rob Brown
October 29, 2011

On Saturday morning while the first snow of the season was coming down the McGahehysville Fire Dept. started the morning off by responding to a structure fire involving a trailer. Crews operated there for about an hour then were dispatched to a reported tree fire. The crews then split up and an ems crew was formed for the day as well as a fire crew. The department ran 15 calls of the duration of the day, ranging from lines down, ems, tree fires, and public service calls.

As we approach winter, we would like to remind the public to clean their chimneys and be aware of slippery roads caused by snow or ice. Also be aware of the weight the snow may have on trees and do not touch power lines if they have fallen.

Units: Eng. 802, Brush 804, & Serv 806

Mutual Aid: Hose Company #4
