JUNE 13 - Members from MVFC attended extrication training class at Company 30 (Elkton Fire Dept) this week/weekend to learn how to handle traffic crashes with entrapment of victims. They learned how to stabilize vehicels on there roof, side, and all four wheels. Virginia Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service Honoring F.F. Roy Smith III

JUNE 08 - On the morning of June 6th a short memorial service was held at MVFC to induct Fallen F.F. Roy Smith III as an honorary firefighter into the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). Engine 802 participates in Burn Camp Motorcycle Ride

MAY 31 - Each year, the Mountain Valley Riders motorcycle club sponsors a benefit ride with all proceeds going to the Mid-Atlantic Burn Camp. This is a special camp for children who have been burned in fires or accidents. This year the ride was held in memory of our own fallen brother Roy Smith III. Roy had been burned in an accident as a child and had attended the camp for several years.

Tractor fire inside of Shed

MAY 08 - Company 80 and Company 20 were dispatched for a tractor on fire inside of a shed. Engine 203 marked on location with a tractor on fire inside of a shed. The fire was extinguished and units went in service in about 1 hour.... (Full Story & Photos)

Traffic Crash on S. Eastside Highway with entrapmant

MARCH 14 - Company 80 was dispatched for traffic crash with entrapment. Training 91 marked on location with a car on its side with entrapment. Engine 801 crew stabilized the vehicle and cut the top to remove the patient from the vehicle.... (Full Story & Photos)

4pm Burn law starts today

FEBRUARY 15 - The Commonwealth's 4 p.m. Burning Law goes into effect Feb. 15 - the start of spring fire season in Virginia.

This law prohibits burning before 4 p.m. each day (Feb. 15 - April 30) if the fire is in, or within 300 feet of, woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable materials.

A violation of this law is a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine. In addition ... (Full Story & Photos)

Woods fire on Bloomer Springs Road

FEBRUARY 14 - Company 80 and 30 were toned for a grass fire. Chief 80 was the 1st on location and marked off with about two acres of woodland on fire. Brush 804, 34 and 706 attacked the fire using forestry line and booster hoses. Virginia department of forestry "forest 5" plowed a line around the fire to ensure it was contained....
