Members from MVFC attended extrication training class at Company 30 (Elkton Fire Dept) this week/weekend to learn how to handle traffic crashes with entrapment of victims. They learned how to stabilize vehicels on there roof, side, and all four wheels. Virginia Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service Honoring F.F. Roy Smith III

On the morning of June 6th a short memorial service was held at MVFC to induct Fallen F.F. Roy Smith III as an honorary firefighter into the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). Engine 802 participates in Burn Camp Motorcycle Ride

Each year, the Mountain Valley Riders motorcycle club sponsors a benefit ride with all proceeds going to the Mid-Atlantic Burn Camp. This is a special camp for children who have been burned in fires or accidents. This year the ride was held in memory of our own fallen brother Roy Smith III. 4pm Burn law starts today

The Commonwealth's 4 p.m. Burning Law goes into effect Feb. 15 - the start of spring fire season in Virginia. This law prohibits burning before 4 p.m. each day (Feb. 15 - April 30) if the fire is in, or within 300 feet of, woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable materials. Woods fire on Bloomer Springs Road

Company 80 and 30 were toned for a grass fire. Chief 80 was the 1st on location and marked off with about two acres of woodland on fire. Brush 804, 34 and 706 attacked the fire using forestry line and booster hoses. Virginia department of forestry "forest 5" plowed a line around the fire to ensure it was contained....
